Mushrooms have gained popularity in recent years as a superfood due to their numerous health benefits. These fungi are low in calories and fat, but high in essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Mushrooms are an excellent source of B vitamins, including riboflavin, niacin, and pantothenic acid, which are important for energy production and metabolism. They also contain minerals such as selenium, potassium, and copper, which play a role in immune function, nerve health, and antioxidant defense. Mushrooms besides being tasty and fun (think hallucinogenic) are also touted to have manhood tonic properties ie they can let men perform better in the bedroom.

Did you know that in the history of planet earth according to scientists the whole planet earth was covered with gigantic mushrooms. That’s right. Mushroom were here way before trees.

One of the most notable health benefits of mushrooms is their immune-boosting properties. They contain compounds such as beta-glucans and polysaccharides, which have been shown to enhance immune function and reduce inflammation. Additionally, mushrooms are a good source of antioxidants, which help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Certain varieties of mushrooms, such as shiitake and reishi, have been used in traditional medicine for centuries due to their potential health benefits. Shiitake mushrooms, for example, are rich in a compound called lentinan, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Reishi mushrooms are known for their adaptogenic properties, helping the body adapt to stress and promote overall well-being. In Japan mushroom nabe (hotpot) are a delight in winter months.

Incorporating mushrooms into your diet can be a tasty and versatile way to boost your nutrient intake and support your overall health. Whether sautéed, grilled, or added to soups and salads, mushrooms can be a delicious addition to any meal. With their impressive nutritional profile and potential health benefits, mushrooms truly deserve their status as a superfood.

My take on mushroom is this :- Regardless how tasty and healthy mushrooms are they are spores and related to fungus and yeast. If you have fungal problems eg vaginal yeast, athletes foot, ringworm or cancer, I highly recommend you avoid all mushrooms until you are yeast and cancer free.
