Safe Sex

The Safest Techniques

Of course as medical experts will point out the safest and guaranteed sex is perhaps masturbation.  Short of abstinence mutual masturbation and sensual massage are probably the next best thing,  from a safety standpoint, as no bodily fluids are exchanged.

Condoms are probably the most popular method of sexual protection-in addition to the added benefit of preventing unwanted pregnancy.   In the old days however, condoms had a bad rap because men complained that they were constricting and caused “no feeling” sensation.  However, condoms today have come a Long way.  There are many exciting  types including ribbed varieties to enhance women’s pleasure, even flavoured condoms or condoms that glow in the dark. Thinner varieties for enhanced feeling.  For convenience, many major condom manufacturers offer a variety pack, which allows you to try several different types of condoms and which suits you best.

When using condoms, be very careful about any lubricants or gels you use at the same time. Certain types of gels like  the oils based ones can damage the latex causing a condom to break up and leak.  Look for water based lubricant gels designed for use in conjunction with condoms.

Lubricated  latex condoms are generally considered the best and most effective at protecting against sexually transmitted diseases. Lamb skin varieties can be risky as they are not viewed to be as effective in preventing disease transmission.

Be sure to also use condoms  during oral sex too and not just for intercourse. Bodily fluids can be transmitted by oral/genital contact which can lead to the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The  most common problem with condoms is that they are sometimes used incorrectly. They can for a start, be tricky to put on, especially in the midst of passionate embrace, so it is a good idea to practice a few times beforehand, especially if you are inexperienced with condoms.  Be sure to leave sufficient extra space at the tip to allow for Ejaculation without breakage (many condoms do have a reservoir built in for this purpose.

You should also use condoms on any dildos or similar sex toys you might be using. In addition to helping prevent the spread of diseases this will also make it easier to keep your toys  clean and protect them from damage.
